If you plan to visit Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, it’s more than likely you’ll visit Kings Beach. With its saltwater swimming pool, restaurants and cafes, scenic coastal path, rock pools, fountain play area and patrolled beach, Kings Beach has something for all ages to enjoy. Kids will also enjoy clambering around the three playgrounds only a few minutes walk apart. Here’s a snapshot of the Kings Beach playgrounds.
The climbing net playground
At the southern end of Kings Beach is the climbing net playground. It sits right next to an exercise station. Perfect for working out while the kids play! Or if you’re on holidays you might just prefer to eat ice-cream and gaze at the ocean. Nearby you’ll find picnic tables, cafes, ample parking and toilet/shower facilities. This playground also has a few spinning things to make the kids feel dizzy.
The little kids playground
About half way along Kings Beach is a small playground that is great for little kids. It has swings, a ‘fort’ with activity areas and slide and a spinning “egg cup” that little kids tend to freak out in. There are BBQs and picnic tables nearby. Toilets and cafes are a few minutes walk away.
The fenced-in playground
At the back of the Kings Beach amphitheatre is a fenced-in playground with swings, bouncy bikes, spinning pole, hill/tunnel and multi-level structure with ladders and a slide. Little kids may find the tower a bit challenging and scary. There is a bright sea mural and raised area where you can sit and have snacks in the shade. Cafes are close by and there are toilets but no BBQs or picnic tables. If you have kids who like to run away, this is a great playground to contain them.
Across the road from this playground is a water fountain play area. Kids love to play in the timed streams of water that shoot up from the ground. This is also a great place for scootering and cycling. Also nearby is the free ocean-side saltwater pool and rock pools.
The three Kings Beach playgrounds are all different so whatever age your kids are, they should find something they enjoy.
